Tough as Nails Themeless #34

No notes on the puzzle today, just a note that at this year’s virtual ACPT, I’ll be running a room to teach people about cryptic crosswords! The room is appropriate for beginners, not experienced solvers, as the curriculum will be the basic rules and clue types, with examples for the group to solve. Please spread the word! I’m an evangelist for this delightful puzzle type and I’d love to see lots of people virtually there.

Speaking of ACPT, I guess my reign as forth-place solver is about to come to an end. I’m not quite as fast as all them twentysomethings! Hoping to hold on to top ten, though.

  1. When are you holding your cryptics class, where will a link be posted, do you plan on recording it and posting it later?

    Thanks for another nice puzzle.

    1. It will be Saturday night of tournament weekend (April 24). I don’t know exact time slot(s) yet but Will had asked those proposing rooms whether they’d be open to running their programs more than once and I said yes (each room is supposed to have a 30-minute presentation or event of some kind). So I may be doing the class more than once that evening, probably between 8:30-10 PM.

The link will likely be posted on the ACPT website, emailed to registered attendees, or both. I’m not sure whether or not Will is limiting attendance for side rooms to those who are registered.

I had not had plans to record, but I can ask Will whether he’d be OK with that.

  2. I don’t plan on purchasing a Noncompetitor ticket so if you do make a recording and post a link to it please let me know.

Have you thought about posting a cryptics tutorial on Youtube or elsewhere?

Thanks for the reply and your great puzzles.
