I’m sorry to miss a regular puzzle posting for what I think is the first time since I launched the site back in January 2020.
As many of you know already, we lost my dad last week suddenly. I’m doing pretty okay, but I’m not in the right headspace to puzzle very much. Thanks for understanding, and I’ll be back with another themeless on the 8th.
I am so sorry to hear about your dad. You don’t owe anyone an apology. Please take care

Take all the time you need. I’ve never written a fan letter before, but I want you to know how much you surprise and delight us every week with your intellect, wit, and good cheer. Your father lives on in the warm, compassionate humanity you share with all of us. Sending you digital hugs.

The loss of a beloved parent is hard. I hope you have support and happy memories to sustain you. And thank you for all you do here.

I know what you are going through, Stella. I lost my Mom in 1998. I was with her when she died. Just remember this one piece of advice: The hurt will go away, if you let it. I have said that to many other friends who lost a parent or friend. They all thanked me profusely.
Incidentally I lost my landlady on January 1, the day after she turned 72. I am 76 and definitely alive and kicking. (I look much younger.) Luckily, Kris’ son Jason and I are friends and we fare quite well.
Best wishes, Stella. I look forward to your next puzzles, but take your time….
